The Watershed Team is focused on the study and conservation of the Namekagon River Watershed and its groundwater.  Our interest includes the Totogatic River Watershed as this river is the main tributary to the Namekagon River.

Initiatives:

  • Save the Leonards gage from being discontinued on October 1, 2013.
  • Qualify NRP as a Nonprofit Conservation Organization (NCO)
  • Define NRP response to the impact of climate change.
  • Develop agreements and annual action plans with key watershed stakeholders in subject areas such as land use, wetland delineation, protection of ground water, and surface- and ground-water quality.
    • Negotiate written agreements and plans with stakeholders.
    • Host Fall 2013 tour of upper Namekagon River tributary streamsheds.
    • Consider annual watershed stakeholder summit
  • Identify and gather previous watershed surveys and studies.
  • Define the scope and objectives for future watershed studies. Note: the initial focus may be on the Bayfield and Sawyer County portions of the watershed, to reduce the geographical area.
